“His pale blue eyes filled with surprise as she hurled a thick, clear plastic bag over his head… twisting and twisting and twisting the bottom of the bag clenched tightly in her grip. Mmmhhuur!!! Only his eyes spoke through the foggy bag… until those pale blue fish eyes filled with the glorious sound of silence.”
They don’t call Mylo the “Queen of Horror” for nothing. This will make you think twice before anyone oversteps their boundaries ever again.
Received at BEA Chicago 2016. Met the author and signed my book. Please don’t ask me why it took so long for me to pick this up. I don’t know… Stop hassling me.
This book sucks you in so much that I finished it in one day. I was completely blown away. If you are a fan of I Spit On Your Grave then you are going to eat this up or maybe want to get even with an enemy. Either way, you’re going to read this book.
Ava is a lonely, quiet girl going to college in the South. Being from New Jersey, this is a huge change of pace for her. She just wants to go through school, work and not bother with all the little bothersome’s known as people.
That is until the most gorgeous guy comes up to her and asks her to tutor him in the one class he can’t ace at. She agrees and comes over to a fraternity party that he’s throwing.
Wesley, Sebastian, and David talk her into going to their house and continuing the party there. Already feeling buzzed, she goes along with anything. Ava is not the type of girl Wesley would go after, but there is something about Ava that changes his mind. He can see himself growing old with her.
David and Sebastian have other ideas. They drink and do drugs until Wesley passes out. He wakes to find Ava strapped to the bed with her mouth taped closed. He goes in and out of consciousness and tries to help, but only seems to make things worse. Waking up the next day, it dawns on all of them what they actually did to this poor girl. Dropping her off at the hospital to not only save her life but to save themselves from jail. She lives and is offered a settlement to keep her mouth shut and she accepts.
Fifteen years later, they are all grown up and have moved on since that incident.
Sebastian is lured down into a dungeon and is the first to go. These little coincidences keep popping up and this makes Wesley fear not only his life but the life of his wife and unborn child.
Ava slowly sneaks her way into Wesley’s life and things grow even weirder from there.
If you read one horror book this year, make it this one. I know that some situations are predictable but I swear you won’t be disappointed. The twists at the end are just out of this world and will make your head spin. This left me feeling vulnerable and shocked. Just beware of who you pick on in life, they might actually grow a pair and cut yours off.
Revenge is always sweeter Dear Readers!!
