You Know Me Well- Nina LaCour & David Levithan

“No more looking at a wall and pretending it was a mirror. No more shelving the fiction in the nonfiction section. No more thinking I could get away with it. With you and me, the secrecy was part of the story.”

I have been dying to read this since I’ve found out about it. Since I was a part of the summer secret santa gift exchange, I’ve asked for this. Not only did I get what I wanted, but its signed by both authors. Thanks JT!!!!

Sometimes you have to face your fears and be yourself. Don’t think of anyone else but yourself. No changing for a person, love thyself and it will spread throughout the world.

Aahh! San Francisco, the most loveable city in the country and they take their pride very seriously.

Kate and Mark sit next to each other in class, but never communicated towards each other until tonight.

Prepride celebrations run wild and new love will soon be blossoming.

Kate is a very talented painter and is about to meet the love of her life, Violet. Except she lets her nerves get the best of her and she runs.

Mark is an athlete, fits the part of a frat boy, but is also shy in social situations. He’s also in love with his best friend Ryan.

At a pride bar, Mark enters a competition that Ryan is surprised hes doing. Kate spys this competition and recognizes Mark, but she also misses her chance to finally meet Violet.

Kate and Mark strikes up conversation and ask each other to be friends.

With Ryan meeting Taylor and stays by his side the entire night, ruining Marks heart.

They decide to stick together and hunt for Violet. Hoping Kate hasn’t missed her chance at true love.

You never know you needed someone so bad in your life until you meet that person and they change your life completely and give you the confidence you need to get what you deserve.
With this book I felt like we were moving in circles and not going anywhere near the big finale. Just a continuous loop of hide and seek.

The story could have been more, but it didn’t lead to anything that would sucker punch you and thats what I wanted. Something that would have shocked me and thrown me through a window. You got neither.

What you get is a cute little story of true love finding its way and a best friends to help each other out in tough times.

And always remember… “the heart is a treacherous beast.”
